5 Tried-And-Tested Tips To Turn Instagram Followers Into Customers
Now that you know how to get more followers on Instagram, and how to increase your engagement levels, it’s time to turn our attention to the last piece of the puzzle: converting your Instagram followers into customers. In this article, we teach you 5 tips to monetize your business’s Instagram followers, and get them to contribute to your bottom line. Let’s get started!
#1: Come up with an Instagram-only promotion
Everyone loves a good deal. In order to win over consumers who are currently following your brand, but haven’t made a purchase yet, simply hit them with an exclusive promo code that they can use on your store.
Pro-tip: don’t just post about your promotion once, and then call it a day. If your promotion is slated to run for a week, post every day or every two days to remind your followers. And feature that same promotion on your Instagram Stories as well!
#2: Use User-Generated Content (UGC)
Another great way of nudging your Instagram followers into making a purchase is to use UGC. This sounds like a fancy term, but it simply refers to content (videos, pictures, etc) that your customers create, and you re-post.
Say you’re an eCommerce store that’s selling women’s clothes, for example. Featuring your customers on your Instagram feed will make your brand more relatable to your followers, and show them that anyone (not just models!) can look good in your clothes. This provides a ton of social proof, and reduces the friction associated with making a purchase.
Psst: be sure to tag your customers and give them credit for their pictures!
#3: Show footage from behind the scenes
Research shows that a whopping 91% of customers want brands they follow to be authentic in their social media posts. This means that your focus shouldn’t be on curating your feed to present a professional, polished image. Instead, you should share your company’s story and origins with your customer, so that they can connect your brand on a deeper level.
How do you do this? Simple. Post behind-the-scenes footage on your Instagram account. You can share memorable moments from your company events, take your followers on an impromptu tour of your office, and even show them how you manufacture your best-selling products. Go ahead and get creative!
#4: Link to your website in your bio
If you want your followers to shop, you’ve got to make it easy for them to shop. While you can’t include links in your Instagram posts, you can link to your website in your bio.
You’ll also want to use a URL shortener (eg Bitly) to track how many clicks you’re getting on your URL. You can also experiment with your Call To Action (“Tap the link to shop” vs “Shop now” vs “Check it out”), and see which one works better.
Pro-tip: every time you post a picture on Instagram, remind your followers that they can check out your website via the link in your bio. In your caption, simply state: “To shop this look, click on the link in my bio @myusername”, or something to that effect.
#5: Create a shoppable Instagram feed
Want to go one step further, and create a shoppable Instagram feed? There are tons of tools out there (including Snapppt, ShopThisFeed and Facebook Catalog integrations) that will allow you to do just that.
