Your specific goal as a brand, business or Instagram aficionado will determine the posting frequency and engagement necessary for your unique needs.
Generally speaking, if you post too often (several times per day) you will reduce the engagement that your posts receive because they aren’t getting enough time to be seen.
Post too little, however, and the overall account engagement will decrease and your reach will greatly diminish.
Most important is to create a frequency that you can maintain consistently. It takes time and effort to create good content and it is better to generate few but good posts than to generate many poor ones.
One of our clients has settled on 3 per week, M-W-F, and found that this frequency is very good for post engagement, even though a higher frequency might benefit overall account engagement. Their goal is for each and every post to be seen.
Given their 33k followers, their engagement rate of 6% is far beyond average and it seems to be working very well for them.
